Using Photshop: Creating a Minion

One of the coverlines mentioned on the contents page is 'Why We Love Pharrell' to tie along with this I have created a miniion from Despicable Me.
This is because Pharrell Williams composed the whole soundtrack to the movie and a lot of people like it.

Here is proof  that I created the minion with a white background and the paint brush tool.

I used images from the internet to help me figure out how I was going to make it look.
This is the completed image.
I intend on having the minion be very small purely to tie along with the coverline.

Using Photoshop: Evolution of the Front Cover

I started with a basic idea and experimented.

Originally I was going to call the magazine 'j' but soon had other ideas.

I learnt a lot more through using photoshop, for example, different skills on laying my secondary model over the first one etc.

I played around with positioning a lot throughout this process also.

Using Photoshop: Editing Background of Image

The origonal images were good, but they needed to be edited. When taking the photo's I wanted to make the graffiti very saturated and to boost the contrast to get a cool effect.

When I did this however, my model was also affected.

This is my solution.
I cut out the model and saved it as a layer in another file. Then, once I had acheived what I needed with the image I put the layer back on top of the image.

Once I positioned the layer of the model correctly, I noticed that where he had been cut out, some of the colours around him were noticably differnt due to the fact that it hadn't been saturated.

Here is an example of how you can see that the colours differ.

I then used a mixture of two techniques. The first, meant correcting the colours around the model by getting the exact colour and drawing over it.
The second meant simply using a very small brush to erase the parts I didn't want.

Here you can see the colour being corrected with the paint tool.
