Evaluation Question 1:
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I created a video to show my answer, I used Sony Vegas Pro to create this, more on how I managed to do this to come.

Why Change the Double Page Spread?
This is the original draft of the double page spread for my music magazine. I was happy with it, and didn't intend on changing much about it, however, upon recent research I have changed my mind.
Taking a look at this double page spread, you can see that the text is smaller, there is less of it and the image is more focused on. I feel these are features my DPS is lacking in.
Here, you see that there is one image, some more text, however the image takes up a third and a half. The title is very large and so is the quote. Again, I felt this was not consistant with my work.
This is demonstrated again here.
This is just some of the changes I intend on making to the article.
From this I have learnt that I underestimated research and it is a valuable tool to use when creating a magazine. Upon correecting this, I am now able to change what I need to and bring the quality of the magaizne up.

Using Photshop: Creating a Minion
One of the coverlines mentioned on the contents page is 'Why We Love Pharrell' to tie along with this I have created a miniion from Despicable Me.
This is because Pharrell Williams composed the whole soundtrack to the movie and a lot of people like it.
Here is proof that I created the minion with a white background and the paint brush tool.

| I used images from the internet to help me figure out how I was going to make it look. |

Using Photoshop: Evolution of the Front Cover
![]() |
| I started with a basic idea and experimented. |
![]() |
| Originally I was going to call the magazine 'j' but soon had other ideas. |
![]() |
| I learnt a lot more through using photoshop, for example, different skills on laying my secondary model over the first one etc. |
![]() |
| I played around with positioning a lot throughout this process also. |

Using Photoshop: Editing Background of Image
The origonal images were good, but they needed to be edited. When taking the photo's I wanted to make the graffiti very saturated and to boost the contrast to get a cool effect.
When I did this however, my model was also affected.
This is my solution.
When I did this however, my model was also affected.
This is my solution.

| I cut out the model and saved it as a layer in another file. Then, once I had acheived what I needed with the image I put the layer back on top of the image. |

| Once I positioned the layer of the model correctly, I noticed that where he had been cut out, some of the colours around him were noticably differnt due to the fact that it hadn't been saturated. |

| Here is an example of how you can see that the colours differ. |

| Here you can see the colour being corrected with the paint tool. |

Photo Shoot: Prepping and Planning - Rough Plans for Images
Once I had chosen my location, costume and camera etc. I sat down to have a really basic plan of the images. This meant that when I was on location I had a basic plan to go by and then I could take it from there, because often, while shooting I get new ideas... This has been shown in a YouTube video I posted under 'Unplanned Shots Taken on Location'

Photoshoot Shot List ~ Basic Plan
Before the shoot I created a basic plan of what shots I wanted to get, so when I arrived on location I was able to have the plan already and get going.
